WITO - Wito translates to “The Calling” in Swahili, it is inspired by my time at the Kenyan coast, Kilifi where I got to interact with brilliant people who made me tap into my inner self and experienced growth. While there I got to be affirmed with every moment, from overwhelming emotions that I’ve never felt before. There were signs guiding me, from notifications from apps, the birds chirping, numbers, music titles, rejection, human connection, dreams, and all that is nature. I started making this piece on a borrowed laptop and it really sparked something in me and serves as a reminder that we can always get assistance once we reach out, when we get called we heed to the call. To me, the calling that I heed is to keep delving deeper into my crafts as an audio-visual artist. Both the emotion graphic and the soundtrack were arranged, conceptualised and composed by myself. - While most of the proceeds will be invested into my craft through procuring equipment, 10% will be strategically donated to charity & to directly support artists.
